Hi Barbara, Hope your bank holiday weekend passed without incident! I have a son-in-law who is a French fireman and have alerted him that reinforcements are obviously going to be needed - however they will probably be on strke! In the meantime, I am still planning to fly in on Wed 2pm'ish. Seems probable you will still be there. If Jean or Jenni could send me your phone number via cordendilley@btinternet.com - that would be great. Otherwise I will ring the ward to check first. Guess what - my sister has PA and suffered badly for many years - so we can swop PA stories, and generally put the world to rights. see you soon, love Alison xx

Hi Babara, How's it going? xxxxx Been thinking of you lots and Sophie sends her love too xxxxx
Hope you can let us know how things are and wondering if the trolley dollies have turned up yet with any supplies of tassels and thongs? Sophie and I thought a midnight feast might be nice tonight. We'll invite everyone from the forum, promise we'll be ever so discreet. We'll let you know when we're there with a couple of l'il fireworks just outside your window xxxxx
Meanwhile p'raps this might be helpful..... or then again, pehaps not...... ;)
What Doctors say....... and what they really mean.......
"Wellll, what do we have here...?" - He has no idea and is hoping you'll give him a clue.
"If it doesn't clear up in a week, give me a call." - I don't know what it is. Maybe it will go away by itself.
"That's quite a nasty looking wound." - I think I'm going to throw up. "Well, we're not feeling so well today, are we...?" - I'm stalling for time. Who are you and why are you here? "This should fix you up." - The drug company slipped me some big bucks to prescribe this stuff. "I'd like to run some more tests." - I can't figure out what's wrong. Maybe the kid in the lab can solve this one. "There is a lot of that going around." - My God, that's the third one this week. I'd better learn something about this. "If the symptoms persist, call for an appointment." - I've never heard of anything so disgusting. Thank God I'm off next week.
& Finally....
A patient walks into a doctor's office.
Patient: Doctor, people ignore me.
Doctor: Next!

hello all
I am mrs lucky lady because I spoke to (call my agent Im on film- DAaaaaaaaaarlink!) Barbara yesterday and her spirits are UP and she is one brave woman.
The treatments are working well on her feet but more skin thingies are coming up and being treated too.
I wont let on about everything, but I am immensely proud to be associated with this incredibly brave group of people, especially people who dont have a straight forward path in life.
Much love

Oops - Sophie said she knew that enormous bowl of raspberry jelly was a bad idea for the midnight feast
...but honestly! I didnt know Jean was going to fall in it, get mistaken for a patient and whisked off to A and E!
-Those bandages have taken us all night to unravel - thank goodness Lylie had those scissors!
After last nights escapades Sophie thought we must bring a bit of decorum to the situation and is planning to set up an forum orchestra
Sophie's going to sing AND play the ukelele, I thought I'm best sticking to the xylophone - any other musicians?
............I'm really hopeful Jean will be able to play that tuba once we get her out of it!
Honestly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh no!! What is Lylie doing with my scissors? I need them back pronto I have hair to cut. Can't have these medical students dashing about with long locks, who knows what problems that might cause And anyway I'm tracking Eleanor; it's time for her next trim, balaclava or not Forum orchestra sounds fun, I'd like to bang a drum, if you don't mind, please Hope you're being well looked after and starting to feel better Barbara. Lyn x

Hi everyone, I'm back online! I was moved to an open ward on Tuesday and have met a wonderful elderly lady, aged 93, with RA. She really is fantastic and a geat source of inspiration; 3 days after her hip replacement she's up on her feet and taking a few steps. She has a lovely sense of humour and swears that it's her 94 yr-old boyfriend that's keeping her young and fit. I intend to break out tomorrow and can't wait to go home. With regards to the Embrel, I had a reduced dose on Tuesday, felt a lttle bit out of kilter yesterday, but feel much better today. I'm back on my feet and able to walk with crutches. My feet still look a mess, but are on the mend, and have only a few new pustules . Many thanks to all of you, I feel privileged to have met a group of very special people and your support has kept me going. love, barbara xxxxxx

Wahaaaay Barbara - you go girl
Great news to hear that you are on the mend - you will progress in leaps and bounds (forgive the pun ) when you are looked after at home.
94 year old boyfriend mmmmm? There's hope for me yet !!
Take care of yourself.

So sorry we were out when you phoned earlier but thank goodness they are letting you out! Hopefully, you will be safely home with your feet up by now. Hope you manage a good night's sleep and the enbrel continues to behave and starts to give you some much needed relief.
Take care and much love Jeanxxxx

We can always save the plan for a later date - or even decide to "rescue" someone who doesn't really need rescuing

Perhaps we should have a look round the wards while we are here, someone is bound to need rescuing! Even if they don't ,it will be good practise for us.

Hiya, Soo glad advanced party managed to deliver the milk tray and noticed beautiful, exotic flowers while I was there yesterday! Oh, and yes Barbara was the most exotic flower of all . She had lots of fighting spirit despite being doped up with Enbrel and suffering from the scars on her poor hands and feet. Though goodness knows why she wants to escape when she looks so cosy with the most amazing view in London, being offered cups of tea by nice young men and having someone else doing the cleaning. Still, what a star and an inspiration - it was brilliant to see you Barbara and hope you now go from strength to strength. xxxxxxx

So glad you managed to get in to see Barbara, Alison. Hmm, after reading your post, it makes me think we may be better trying to break in for some R and R! It sounds better than the Ritz! Doreen xx

Great news Barbara. I hope that the Embrel is the answer. Good to hear that the feet and hands are improving. If you find scissors with lots of blonde hair stuck in the blades hide them from Lyn as that is/was my hair when she gave me a hair cut claiming to know what she is doing. Don't be scared if you see a face wearing a balaclava at your ward door or window (depends on Jean getting the window cleaning thingie going, Kathleen finding her snake and Mary with Doreen pole dancing as we go upwards. )
Glad that you are to get home.
Eleanor x
ps Doreen, I did suggest that we would break in as Barbara appears to have been made so comfortable. Alison even mentioned Chocolates!
